Do you fancy yourself an undergraduate playwright?

Since I am apparently still on the e-mailing list for Manhattan Theatre Club from the time I participated in one of their programs, I received word of a new contest that I think would be nice to divulge to other individuals. Please take note, participate if you fit into the guidelines, and the best of luck to you! :)

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Dear past participants of MTC’s Write Now! program,

We wanted to let you know about an exciting new playwriting contest that MTC is co-sponsoring with Dentyne. The contest asks for short plays about sustaining personal relationships in the age of technology, and has a pretty spectacular grand prize - $7500 and a professional performance of your play at New York City Center. Some important things to note off-the-bat:

  • All entries must be postmarked by March 9
  • You must be 18 or older to enter
  • If you happen to be a full-time undergraduate student at Stanford University, Hunter College of CUNY, UCLA, or Northwestern University, there’s a separate contest for you (also listed on the Dentyne website).
Interested? Check out the Dentyne website (http://www.dentyne.com/realationships/) for more details and specific contest rules. Be sure to read everything carefully… we’d hate for your submission to get disqualified on a technicality. We also strongly suggest that you get your submissions in sooner rather than later, so hop to it! Go write a play!

Best of luck,

Julia Davis
