Governor's Island Reading with Yusef Komunyakaa recap

The weather couldn't have been nicer for a day in the park with poetry. Poets House set up chairs and speakers around a colossal red steel structure, one of the many Mark di Suvero sculptures around Governor's Island this season. Transport to the island is free and it's open every weekend.

And nearby, the Governor's Island Art Fair took over a row of abandoned buildings, with art installations filling rooms and hallways of old, institutional houses. It was quite something. The art fair runs every weekend in September.
